I thought drop shotting was illegal in Michigan, at least it was a few years ago.

i use a snap swivel at the very bottom of my dropshot line, so i can change sinker weight fast for different condtions.
i like to keep my line as close to vertical as i can. this keeps the baits more horizontal.
when you run your line at big angles in the water, the bait will hang down more vertical, and that doesn't look as natural...

Good article. The more I fish for crappie and learn new "tricks" the more I realize I don't know much about it at all.
If we did what was most important in life there would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles

i have seen some fellas use a micro spoon under a jig or 2 before .....
you might think about replacing that sinker with a weighted bait .....
and run the jigs closer together ....
    just a thought ...
best of luck to ya ...

thx for the tip, i'll give it a try.

i was using some 2.5'' Gulp minnows last nite, and nothing would bite. so i switched to some 1'' Gulp, and the gills, and crappie started hammering it. got a dozen like this.
one thing i do like about the drop shot rig. when its windy, i put a 5/8 or 3/4 oz sinker on,
and i can keep it under the boat good, plus i can drop it really fast to get right back at them.
