happen to be fishing with a green jig spoonminnow? for some reason when we use chartreuse green jigs, we get alot of fish but the northern pike just seem to go extra hard after them. if we switch to a different color of jighead it seems to stop that almost entirely. this is when we are fishing in the weed beds

I only use unpainted jig heads from Ebay. I'm of the opinion that a colored jig head, especially a brightly colored one, may detract from the lure that's rigged on it. Picks and pike hit about anything we cast and unless their numbers are a nuisance, I expect to lose half a dozen lures. I've found a supple metal braid that acts like mono but haven't fished it yet where pickerel swim. There is no way it can be cut by sharp teeth and I'm hopeful it won't affect lure presenation! Since our worse season for catching pickerel is in spring, I won't have to use the wire until next year.
