Maybe because you're doing it upside down........
Been a struggle for me lately. But I did manage 10 this morning in about 3 hours. Most drifting miners 6 ft. Deep in 10 FOW. Caught this one using Crappie Pappys vertical casting technique.

I started vertical casting resently too, caught many whites Sunday took home 27 all 10"+ which is good for around here, ran out and bought some high dollar weedless jig heads that I am not sold on, they where the single barb type #2 hook 1/16th oz, used Bobby Garland electric chicken and did good. Id like to know from the guys who use weedless jig heads, what type the prefer and why? and are there any members selling them? I have a Bps close by but am getting tired of the prices and lack of quality and would sooner support a CDC member.

Tom, I use two versions of weedless jig heads :
The top one is a 1/16oz ballhead with the fiber "brush" style weedguard .... the bottom one is the same jig head with a plastic Y guard (my personal favorite). Both have a #2 Aberdeen hook (which I also have put on my 1/32oz versions).
I have them custom made by Grousefly. (Paul Mullins- P&S Custom Baits) I've used them both, very successfully, for nearly 15yrs.

Check with Paul on available colors of weedguards & hooks, hook sizes available for whatever head weights you want, etc. And let him know that you're a Crappie.com member, and ask him about member discounts.

What is vertical casting?
Are you casting in an upward or downward motion and how long is each cast? Thanks.
Get the net!
I'm standing on my head to view this picture, getting dizzy.
