I received my hooks yesterday and did notice right off the bat that they were not bent as accurately as the eagle claws. The 90 degree bend was not a perfect 90 on a lot of em.

Thanks for your comments. I'm gonna give em a try.

PS what is a gami? Where do you get em. I got the sickles from Barlows Tackle.

    Thanks

has anyone tried the Mustad wide gap #37188?It's an aberdeen style made on .034 wire but with a wider gap than the usual aberdeen hook. Barlows has them and the price is not too bad compared to the Gammy. Mustad has been used by me a lot over the years and i don't ever remember having a quality problem with their hooks.

The Mustad is a good needle point hook. I like them. The 1/0 wide gap is the same size as the sickle 3/0. The sickle hooks seem to run smaller than the
othe hooks with the same advertised size. Pop

Those Mustads are expensive though. If you mean the ultrapoints. Anyone tried these yet? http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...rTarget=browse

Mustads are cheaper than the sickle hooks. Barlows price for the Mustad wide gap needle point hooks is 5.59/100. Sizes 6-1/0. Wish they made them a little larger. Pop

If there is such a thing as a hook being to sharp. Gamakatsu fits the bill. I have yet to see anything as sharp as a Gamakatsu hook.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

Owner hooks are the sharpest out of the box and more important, hold their point better and longer. Mustad needle point hooks are almost as sharp out of the box as the Gammi and after hitting the first obstacle is sharper than the Gammi. The Gammi doesn't hold their sharpness as long as the Mustad needle point. The information about the Gammi hooks and Mustad was confirmed to me by the people at Shorty's Hook Sales. Just my 2 cents.
