Thanks for the input everybody...I hemmed and hawed and scratched my head and FInally decided on the BGJP. I went to Bass Pro Friday, caught a seminar, and put my hands on every crappie pole that was on the rack. The Crappie Max are Ok, but the BnM just seemd to have the right amount of backbone to weight ratio. I would really like to feel one of the southern crappie rods. But I just cant spend the money on something I cant feel first. I think Ill be happy with the BnM's for a while. Theyve proven themselves for years. Again, I appreciate all the Inputs. Ill be looking to see if anybody is using the Southern crappie poles dirung my outings..hopefully I can try one someday and decide whether or not to get one.

Just for future reference, a 14 foot SCR weighs 9.12 ounces. What does your BGJP weigh?

You know, Yikess .... I wish ALL brands would list the weights of their rods. Might even be a selling point that could be touted for comparison.

I agree CrappiePappy but in this case we are talking about a trolling rod that sits in a rack 99% of the time so I don't really see where the physical weight is a major issue. Seems to me the strength and action would be more important. Now with a jig pole the actual weight would be a major concern.
