I found a mix of other colors on ebay for cheap. Small amounts of orange, black, blue, pink and so on in a bag for a few bucks. Then buy 3 NORTHERN whitetails for the majority of what you'll be using. I have tied 1/2 to 1 1/2oz bucktails and used blue and green and black, just a little, on the back and some red or pink on the belly, using red thread for the tie. Use more cement than for crappie as these are going to take a beating in comparison to what we normally use. Flourescent colors work good as accent colors. Northern tails tend to be longer and thicker, but not always able to be found. Look at what's in the catalogs for color choices. Walleye like green and brown but there too, look around first.

    Thanks guys,
Picked up a few colors tonight to get me going as I'm really wanting to tie some up. Even going to try few ice fishing.
    Skeetbum,
When I tie the ones for walleye you say use red or pink as the belly? Should the whole belly be pink/red? Or mix red/pink with white on the belly? Thanks?

I was going to mention using some red to simulate blood is good too, even if its tied on a jig with a red hook, I havent used hair jigs for Crappie, but Smallmouth seem to like them in Winter.
