BPS Excel is some decent line. I've used it for years. Still have several spools of various pound tests, some of which has to be 10-15yrs old or more, and it's still good line. I do keep it in a closet (cool/dark), so that may be why it's lasted so long
I just wish they would offer it in a "hi-vis color". It's great for tightline, trolling, straight cast & retrieve, and such methods that don't require as much "line watching" ... as "rod watching". But ... as eyes get older, and less able to detect a "clear/blue" line (in the sun/shade), then a more visible line becomes a big help -- especially when casting & swimming a jig !!
One trick I have learned, when using a clear/blue mono, in a situation where it tends to be a bit hard to see ... is to drop the rod tip/line down in the water, after casting to the target area, just to get the line wet. The water on the line seems to "glisten" in the sunlight, and does help you see the line somewhat better than when it's dry.
One thing for sure ... you have NO trouble seeing either the Stren Gold or Excel clear/blue fluorescent, at night --- if you're using a "blacklight" :p The Stren Gold looks like yellow ski rope, and the Excel looks like nylon tow rope :D under the glow of the UV light .... LOL!! ......... cp

Gold Stren and Trilene Ironsilk (solar mint). Have to find something else to replace the Ironsilk if they're discontinueing it.

I have used the Stren Hi-Vis Gold and the Wally Marshall Hi Vis line and like them both. Currently I am using the Wally Marshall line and have had no problems with it at all.
