I'm surprised the "artist" does stick a fake thumb in their mouths with them gapping so wide. Why do taxidermists insist on this? I would do more mounts if they would do them the way I want and in a more natural resting state which the fish is 99% of its life. Still think they all look really nice just prefer to see a mount with a fish in the pose I imagine they are in the moment before my jigs drops to them. Never saw a deer mount with the face grimacing as the bullet enters its body.
man thats one of the things i look forward to every spring- when jigging in the shallows ive watched bunches roll out from behind a stump or bush open that mouth and inhale that jig!! one of the prettest sights ever!if you never seen it i feel for ya!
My wife swears I only do enough surveying to support my hunting & fishing because I'm too busy hunting & fishing !

My crappie was mounted with its mouth open with the minnow being sucked in because that is the way I wanted it done. It had nothing to do with the way he wanted to do it. I'm sure that is the way it looked right before I set the hook
