is this line strong enough for crappies ???
going to us it for casting jigs with a mono leader !!!
I have caught 4 & 5 # bass and 10 and 12 # lake trout on 6# line. It is just as much about the rod and your drag setting as it is the line,
I have been using 2# test Fireline Crystal (with a fluoro leader) for several seasons now. Very visible line and super strong. Have caught bass and northern pike on this set up with no difficulty. And it casts like a dream.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.Cane Pole LIKED above post
I use 10/2 braid for deep jigging and tie direct to the jig. The fish don't seem to mind.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I tie the braid straight to the jig as well
If you want a line the size of regular 6 lb mono then a 15 lb braid is the same size in diameter. The feel of the line and bite is the only difference. It is much easier and better to use 6 lb high vis mono line to feel the bite better with that lb test. I use the braid to fish with minnows and sometimes get those pesky bass and cats and I need a strong line to handle them.
USAF Retired and fishing!
We fish a deep clear lake can see a white jig 10 ft.We use 10 lb berkly nano-fill clear mist.you can see it fish cannot.10 lb nano is eq to 4lb mono.We even catch walleye on this line in the clear water.Pricey but have used the same line for 2 years. It floats and is a learning curve to use. but well worth it!!! tye straight to jig head or bait no leaders!! My father loves to use mepps and roostertails these will twist mono will not twist nano-fil!!! no swivel tye straight to bait.
