I can guarantee you that some local fisherman thought he was doing something good by releasing crappie into those lakes. There are probably tons of short fish in there, but you don't catch many using catfish bait on the bottom. MDC wants you to take 30 of those home with you every time you can. Chaumiere is stocked several times a year with trout (winter) and catfish (summer), but there is a certain population of guys who fish it out of both of those species within just a few days of it being stocked. If you can get there within a few days, you can have a lot of fun. You might even be able to call MDC for info on dates for scheduled stocking to give yourself a better chance. If you want a bunch (30) crappies, go to Watkins Mill.....the fishery manager will thank you!

To fish for crappies at Englewood, I would try a minnow or jig under a bobber (3-4'). Toss it around the dam and out from there. Very slowly wind it back to you. Springtime fish around the banks/creeks
