freelay, Im trying to convince my wife to let me get a kayak, let alone a boat (though id love one). Someday though. Plus spider rigging isnt quite the same in illinois as it is elsewhere.
Come south to Shelbyville, pretty popular down here.

im sure he is talking about not being able to "spider rig", due to rod limit. same over here. we are only allowed three rods here,(2 in ill. i think) thats hardly "spider rigging". in my opinion you would need 8 rods to be legitimate. lol

Frankly I'm shocked they haven't fallen over onto a car or been bumped bringing groceries in all summer. So I decided to get a rod rack to keep them in.

Decided to make my own rather than spend $20 on one from Gander Mountain. All together I spent about $8 on PVC pipe, hooks and the bungee. (already had the wood scraps and screws). Turned out pretty good I think. Makes me realize I dont have many rods though.

The entire rack is 3 ft long, two levels. The PVC pipes are 8" long and cut at a 45 degree bevel on top. They are about 3" apart but having them staggered lets me overlap the space for the reels and get more in. I need to get one more piece of pipe but when it's done it can hold 12 rods or nets. Not bad for a few hours work during the kids nap.

mine is on the same order as joekillers, but i only used very heavy wire and some screws. i too have a rod addiction, like some of you.the ceiling was the only option big enough.

Yeah the rack I built for the wall is limited to 9ft (ish) rods. Any longer and I'll have to do something on the garage ceiling, but I think that's ways off still for me.

You guys don't keep your rods in your boat? I have a few rods in a rack but about 8 in my boat that I use.

We do just fine spider rigging with the 3 rod limit on shelbyville. I dont think you have to have 8 rods to be legitimate

Nice idea. Mine are just leaning on the barn wall. I need to do something more organized.
