The stake bed is almost snag free, but you will get snagged once in awhile. You don't have to worry about the fish wrapping you up just keep a steady pressure on them and they will follow the line to the rod.
If you place them where you can see the stakes in 3 or 4' deep water you can fix 2 ropes with sinkers and a slip knot and lower the noose over the two center stakes and slowly pull it up until you can reach the stakes then have a friend remove the blocks and help slide it in the boat. it's work but not very hard.
You can fish the bed from straight above by lowering the jig into the center and move it slowly through the stakes, or cast to it and use the count down 1 1000 2 1000 3 1000 at one foot for second to get to the depth you want and then reel the jig through the stakes.
I have placed over 65 of the 8'x12' beds in three lakes over the past 4 years and have won 9 tournaments on them. I also have placed some hanging trees on deep bluffs that have payed off especially this time of year. Another great thing about the stake beds is when the crappie move off them the largmouth move in and a spinner bait is killer in them when they are there.
What do you mean by "hanging trees"?
