I burn crispy critter without sun block and when the grand daughter is here I put it on her and ME before we go plus it goes with us. Banana Boat Kids SF50 and with thin hair I rub it right on the head too even though I wear a cap. Haven't been burned yet and it's waterproof but X?? with everyone else every couple of hours re-apply easy enough to rub some pond water on your hands and dry em off.

For the people up north use the sun screen in winter also. I get sun poisioning real easy. If I don't use sun screen it looks like I walked into a growth of poison ivy. During the winter my face will get sun burned even in temps in the single digits without the sun screen. Always have a tube with me in the center console of the suv.

I wear a brimmed hat. I also have some Mossy Oak treklite camo that is long sleeve. I need to get some just regular, but it keeps the sun off of me and I stay cool.

Any sunscreen of spf of over 30 is just marketing. 30 or 100, it still has to be re-applied. FYI: Lots of chemicals in sunscreen are coming under fire for being strong endocrine disrupters, so most brands formulas are going to be changing. Zinc oxide and Titanium dioxide (ie white nose) is still one of the best, along with covering up. Myself, I like the shade of a Bimini top, with some sun clothing, and sunscreen applied before I leave the house (no sweat) and then again when I get settled into the boat.
