    Vitamins

Eating a serving of cooked chicken liver will provide you with 280 percent of the daily value for vitamin A, with 12,228 international units; 280 of percent of the DV for vitamin B-12, with 18 micrograms; 160 percent of the DV for folate, with 476 micrograms; 90 percent of the DV for riboflavin, with 2 milligrams; 25 percent of the DV for vitamin B-6, with .7 milligrams; 20 percent of the DV for vitamin C, with 2.3 milligrams; 20 percent of the DV for niacin, with 11.8 milligrams; and 10 percent of the DV for thiamine, with .25 milligrams. Vitamin A is essential for normal functioning of your organs, vision, immune function, the formation and reproduction of cells, and vitamin B-12, which is only available from animal-based foods, is necessary for proper brain function and for forming red blood cells and DNA.

    Minerals

Liver is also an excellent source of minerals, with 1 serving providing 40 percent of the DV for iron, with 11 milligrams; 25 percent of the DV for zinc, with 3.4 milligrams; 25 percent of the DV of phosphorus, with 376 milligrams; and 4 percent of the DV of magnesium, with 23 milligrams. Your body uses iron for forming red blood cells to transport oxygen and for creating energy. Zinc is essential for cell division, growth and development, forming protein and DNA, immune function and healing wounds, and phosphorus is necessary for creating energy, forming bones, repairing cells and kidney, heart, muscle and nerve function.

My mother was a long term Weight Watcher (she lost 118 pounds and maintained that weight for 40+ years) and 1 serving of liver per week was mandatory! There are vital nutrients from Liver that you just do not anywhere else. Yes, the liver is a cleansing organ which means it removes but does not store toxins.

I like mine sauteed with onions and tomato juice. I really prefer breaded and fried with onions but so does my waist line. The tomato juice and onions work out very well, cook it down till juice and onions are more like a salsa, good as is or on crackers or on toast.

Chitterlings, different story. If they are prepared right they are great, if you ever eat them done wrong and you will never again take the chance!

I gotta agree with you guys, I LOVE grilled liver and crisp bacon with gravy smothered taters.......MMMMMMMMMMMM.....you guys are making me hungry!

As far as bait for fish goes, I use to use beef liver, cut into cubes, for catfish as a kid. Been a long time. I'll stick with my "artificials" than you!
