very nice fish! I'm betting your hooked now!
Congratulations! That's a nice fish anywhere. But crappie populations vary. In many northern lakes a fish that size is a rare trophy, in southern impoundments it would be more common. In the lake I usually fish, that would be a whopper. I could count the fish that size I've caught here on my fingers, and I've fished here for decades.
You've got good water to fish.
very nice fish! I'm betting your hooked now!
My wife swears I only do enough surveying to support my hunting & fishing because I'm too busy hunting & fishing !
That's a slab for sure. Though, you are fishing one of the best kept secret crappie destinations in the world! At times The Alabama River Area can out fish the famed Mississippi Lakes. Good job!

You're off to a good start! Beautiful fish, looks like you got a good place to find them.

That's a great fish out of any water. If I ever catch one above 3lbs, it will be released. Not really interested in hanging a fish on the wall.

That's a really nice fish. Most folks will never catch one that big. What ever you are doing keep doing it. Where ever you caught them start right now investigating the surrounding area for deeper water and structure that will hold them when they move back out in warmer weather.

That is definitely a slab and a fish to be proud of.
As far as trophy fish, I think that definitely depends on the water you are fishing. Here in the Ohio valley in the waters I fish I might catch 2 or 3 of those 15" fish a year. I have always said if I catch that 16" in these waters it will be on my wall. I've been close but no cigar yet. I'm 51 years old & have crappie fished since I was a kid with my dad. Not sure if he/we ever caught anything that big then or not. Not that I can remember clearly anyhow. I'll keep looking & hopefully someday I can point to my wall and say rmember when....
