Cane Pole, how many languages do you know?
BasicA, GW Basic. Pascal, Q Basic, C++, & a little Visual Basic were the languages I dealt with.

Assembly and Basic. I prefer assembly and I still have a good working knowledge of machine code instructions of the more powerful microprocessors such as the Intel 8000 series and the Motorola 6800 series. I started outs on a bit banger. Here is a link to bit banger similar to what I cut my teeth on. Programming was done a line at with switches setting up the addresses and data buss. Took forever to write a simple program. Back in the 60s I wrote programs for a wiring analyzer to check Saturn Rocket wiring.
I still design my own circuits and write my own code. I love it. Not many folks have their work job as their hobby. I am blessed.

Very cool stuff Cane Pole.

WOW!??? I think id rather get lost than try and figure out all that gps stuff! Very impressive you or anybody knows what that stuff means
Hey, a simple instruction like a "branch" (GOSUB) was very complicated. You had to enter the address where you were going, the op code for the machine instruction, and remember how many lines of codes you "skip" so you can enter the return address. Basic make this simple. I got into basic with the NOVA 3 mini computers. Ima dinosaur.

I used to have a simple program that simulated horse races. When I printed off the code on one of those old reel printers, it stretched all the way across the room.

I remember that game. I dabbled in programming some...but I couldn't keep from taking the computer apart...lol. AgriHawg and I used to browse around best buy and make the techs look silly....those were the good ol' days. I still remember the techs face when he got proved wrong by a guy wearing overalls and a John Deere hat. hehehe.
