ok callshy, here is an idea of something like I am thinking for my LED lite for the back of my boat. I also want to be able to use the set up as a rod holder for trolling or spider rigging too when not using the lite. I was thinking some type of vice clamp. The vice would need to be so I could tighten it down from the top because there is only a small space under the area where it will clamp and I would not be able to get my hand in to tighten it. The metal piece is thin so the vice does not need to be big at all, I can try and get you a picture or two of it to try and show you. I do not want to drill anymore holes in my boat so I thought a vice clamp tightened wiith a rubber or felt piece on the tightening clamp would not damage the metal and would not require drilling and the riser post for the holders and light could be welded onto the vice sort of like what is shown in the picture. Do you think you could make something like this?

okay here are the 2 lights I added for night fishing. I plan to add one more. I have one at the back and one about 3/4 the way up, both on the same side. I plan to add another on the opposite side 3/4 the way up to the front to use for night navigation as well. I have these two lights wired to a group 24 battery in a storage compartment in the back. The battery is stored out of the way and the wiring runs underneath the lip on the side of the boat so everything is out of the way and safe. I just flip a switch for each light when I want to use it. These lights are removable as well so I can take them off very easily when not in use. I ran these 2 lights for 8 hours straight and they were still burning when I turned them off. No need for lantern fuel or anything anymore. I can see everything I need to see now. Thanks to callshy for making me a rod mount for the back, I can also convert it to a rod holder if needed.

Nice setup. I'm sure it was way easier than you had anticipated. Just a matter of gathering the right parts and pieces. Now all you need to do is get that livewell full. Good luck.

pauldo, it was very easy once I got started. With your help and help from a few others it was a piece of cake. I love the set up

Mounted a couple 30 watt Halogen floods on 10' poles for night fishing and whoa, way to brite. Added a dimmer switch and can tame the light to where it does not cause blindness.

Made A T bar from PVC and into a rod holder it went. Alligator clips and a motorcycle battery. Would light up about 30' either side of the boat. But too much light. Thus a dimmer switch was added and for under 30 bucks all was good.
