I like using 12 foot poles, with my spider rig set up. With a 8 pole spider rig set up, I can have a 30 foot spread, left to right ,that is. I rarely fish shallower than 6-8 foot anyway. But I believe that ,the bigger spread I have ,the more my odds go up on getting a hook in front of a fish.
