Only thing to add is try a roadrunner, vert. jigging, i think that blade makes a difference in brush but gets hung in the weeds

That's a 50hp Merc .... and it's on my fishing partners boat (I currently don't own one). I have no idea what year it is. I really don't know much about Mercs, either. I had a 1985 70hp Yamaha, that served me well for the last 15+ years that I owned my last boat. There are some other members that may be able to help, though ... or direct you to the "marine doctor", for answers. You might want to post a seperate message concerning your problems. ........... luck2ya ........ cp

Man! I thought you had to die to get into heaven. What a fantastic looking place for crappie. I agree with everyone else, verticle jigging with jigs, doll flies or minnows.
