Building anything with skirts or blades would be good. You can also make softbait molds.
Look at treating your back first. I have had good success with chiropractors. Usually only takes a few treatments and I start feeling a lot better. Hot shower is good to start the day and after you've been working. Relaxes the muscles.
You can get your own "stem" unit for around $100 bucks. It's similar to what a chiropractor uses and runs on a 9 volt battery. You can set how much current you want to go through it. Stimulates blood flood in those areas and massages the muscles while you are sitting a watching TV. I keep one around the house and may not use it for a year or more but when I do need it, (like after spending 1/2 day in garden pulling weeds) it's priceless.
Mild exercise like walking usually helps to stretch it out as well.
I'm inclined not to use any more medicine then necessary.
Last resort, see your family doctor. In your case, maybe it should be your first resort. You might want to let him know you're not interested in taking strong meds if they are not necessary. He may make you an appt. for physical therapy to get a permanent cure.
Good luck with your back.
Bronson, I've tried all of what you said plus have gotten shots in the spine for about three years. But thanks a lot for the suggestions.

Been through the process myself, including the surgery, and it only gets so good and that's all. stretching helps but doesn't make it go away. I'm still able to work but not what I like to do. Being a moderator on the jig making and tying forum I can say that it is good for folks like us cuz you can put it down at any time and pick it up again later. I have lots of fun with it and always try something new. Good luck finding a place that's comfortable, it took me a while.
