Scrapper is correct ... this is a "family friendly" site, and adult language is frowned upon.

I've cleaned up the language, as I always do when I come across it, but I can't be on here 24/7 ... so it's up to the membership to refrain from using language of an adult nature, or report the post that contains it, so that SuperMods or Admin can be advised of it's existence and edit/delete as necessary.

Considering that the original author of this thread hasn't been involved in the discussion, for some time now, I'm considering closing the thread. I think we have discussed & debated the intent of the original question, sufficiently enough that the value of this thread has peaked & is waning. No need for one man's opinion, who isn't even a member of this site, to create a discord among those of us who are members. I think we all have our own opinions of what "Crappie Fishing" is, and have expressed them.

Pappy, I have been checking in on this thread for a couple of days to see if it hit 100 relies. There's no doubt that this thread touched a nerve with some. I think that just goes to show we all have differing ideas of a sport we all love. I just think we should not be willing to take away any means of catching crappie ,that are legal and ethical, that others choose to use.

I totally agree, mrdux ... and it appears as though the majority of replying members do, as well.

I'll leave it run, for now ... but, appeal to the membership to keep the discussion civil, and keep their language under control.

This is an interesting subject as I live in Pennsylvania and the whole spider rigging thing has not caught on yet up here. I am probably one of the very few people that do it in my area. When I am out on the lake alot of times people come over to the boat and ask what I am fishing for and since crappies are not really that popular where I live people just nod and say wow cool, and move on.

Funny thing about PA is this is the first year where you can use 3 rods each. But back to the point, I catch tons of crappies fishing this way and I use to be a big bass tournament guy and really fishing this way is just tons and tons of fun. BUt I do not really keep crappies, I might keep maybe 10 or so a year, but to me its just the point of having fun catching them.

'dock shooting" "cast and count down" crappie fishing has come a long way I love it all but for me its still about the "THUMP"
