I do very little fishing in the summer months just because of all the chaos, confusion and stress that is involved and as I get older... I seem to have less and less patience for such.

I do a lot of lurking on here because there is really a lot to learn from just going from place to place an reading different threads, seeing pictures, how somebody rigs their boat up,etc..
Glad to see you are putting your two cents worth in and speaking out instead of just lurking... and I really do appreciate you responding to this thread topic. You certainly have a valid point that fishermen can be as bad as anyone else on the water... but that was not really the intended subject matter of this thread. My apologies for responding so harshly to your initial response... I did not mean any disrespect to you... but I took it as though you were disrespecting me and were cruising to stir up an argument, which was also not (nor ever will it be) what I intended to do by posting this or any other thread.

This a great forum with lots of great people contributing whatever bits and pieces they can or will. It is nothing without everyone contributing their thoughts and wisdom to it.

My apologies as well. I definitely agree that fishermen can be just as disrespectful as the pleasure boaters. I too primarily fish lakes where pleasure boats and jet skis are not very common, so no argument there. Sorry if I came off a little harsh.

Well, I hadn't had no problems from fishing boats, but I can't say the same about the rest of the traffic on the water during the summer months. I'm glad fall is coming, heck! , I'm glad school is starting back, it will get better, now.

Well let me jump in here and I am sure I will most likely upset those that have jet skis, speed boat that serve no other function than to fast, etc. I have in the past fished rivers were the exact thing you are talking about happens all to often. I would like to see the fish and game come out with a law that says something to the effect that you can not use a towed rideable float or jet ski within 200 ft of any shoreline. It would in effect remove them from a lot of river sections. Plus they would have to stay away from people fishing the shoreline in small watercraft. if you want to accept what i say fine if you don't thats fine to. Just something I think would make things safer for those fishing in small craft. Have A Nice Day.

So many different senerios to consider and so many different personalities to deal with but it only takes one person to make 5, 10, 15 or 20 small craft
fishermen mad or glad. Once upon a time I too was a young man with a big fast Bass Cat.....but not one time did I knowningly create a wake on the
water that would make you wave hi to me with the bird. Key word being "knowningly". Very possible there could have been a sheldtered cove along the
way that could have been affected by my wake, but my intent was always to treat others the way I wanted to be treated. Respectfully. Times change
and patience is tested and the older you get the more apt you are to "get it". Special K, you started a thread that started a dialogue that could change
the way we show respect for one another on the water. Tight lines to all and I enjoyed the read.

I hope you had a good nap yesterday afternoon brother. Thanks for the thought that I might have started a thread that's going to start a dialogue... but I have little reason to believe that it will change anything, because the ones that care are careful and thoughtful... and the ones who don't care aren't going to care no matter what I or anyone else says in the context of a forum thread. If the laws are not enforced on the lakes regarding speed, carelessness and recklessness on the water... people are going to keep thumbing their noses at the rules and at boating safety and courtesy and it will continue to be a "free for all" out there.

Thanks for adding your two cents worth BoarBuster. You are absolutely right that many watercraft are built solely for speed, performance and maneuverability and that's all well and good, but many of our lakes and reservoirs simply aren't big enough for everyone... let alone watercraft and people that are itchin' to satisfy their need for speed, performance and maneuverability. I can tell you many stories about boat collisions that have happened because of excess speed and carelessness here in the Southeast and I have also seen the statistics for boat accidents that are listed online that have happened every year in the United States and (believe me) speed and careless and reckless boating is the culprit a good deal of the time and of course alcohol related accidents are another big one.

The government wants all of the revenue from all the boat sales, licensing fees, ramp access fees and etc., so they are going to be reluctant to do anything... I guess until enough people get killed on state lakes and reservoirs. I agree that we all want less government, but one of the things government needs to do is call dangerous what it is... dangerous... and do things to protect people. You know and I know that it won't be the ones who commit the acts of careless and reckless that will get hurt... it will be like here in NC where an innocent woman and her child were killed when a speed boat ran across the deck of their pontoon boat while they were out on the lake minding their own business. They were not speeding or being careless or reckless... but she and her child are just as dead.

I think there's definitely some difference in how things are in the central and western parts of the US with fishermen being the ones that people are complaining about, but while I see this some with the bass rockets... I really don't see the fisherman problem as much either... at least not nearly as much as I do the pleasure boaters. I am glad fall and winter are coming too CbNC.

I'm only nice to a point too CbNC. I guess I'm a nice guy because I backed off that p--sin' contest earlier... but don't let the manners fool you... I will report a violation in a minute too.
I have very little patience for stupidity or careless and reckless behavior on the water and I never will have either.
Thanks for your response by the way... it's always good to hear from you.
