I don'tthink it does any good to say anything to these idiots. Just makes them mad and then they want to watch for you and haress you to get even. I use to drive a truck so a person in any size boat can relate to what i am going to say: "Before a person can get their drivers license they should have to ride in a big truck for a week so they learn what goes on in a truck when some idiot does not know how to drive around one. " That being said it would not hurt for a person to have to show that before they can buy that big fast boat that they have spent 120 days on the water in a jon boat with a lot of big fast boat traffic going buy. Heck if there were a simulator that could be used with things such as stuff being thrown about the boat, water being thrown up on the person in the small boat or even being given the feeling of being swamped with a xert being issued showing that they had spent x number of hours in the simulator before buying a big boat of being to register any boat it might give these people a taste of what they do to others.

Just cause you own a small boat doesn't mean you should take it any where you want and the whole world should cater to your needs. I used to own a 12' john boat and I took it places I shouldn't have and I really couldn't blame anyone but myself for the problems I encountered. I learned the hard way that all bodies of water were suited to just any boat. Once I learned my limits I realized an upgrade was in my future.

A little testy are we. Your right a person should know their limits and the limits of their equipment. But that still doesn't mean I am not right about having a requirement that would also teach a lesson at the same time. Let me p.o you a little more. When I was growing up I heard of truck drivers being killed because someone pulled out in front of them and the driver turned the wheel and he died but not the driver that caused the accident. When I started driving trucks I decided that if you pulled out in front of me I was going to take you withme. Want to be stupid and cause me to die well I was going to take you along for the ride. Now cop your little attitude if you want but if boaters had to go through the things they put others thru they might watch more of what they do that effects the lives of othes. Have a nice day.

I didn't see a problem with him cruising by. Looked more like the camera boat didn't cut into the wake properly. Anytime you take the wake full on the side of the boat expect major rocking. Cut the bow into the wake and the wake is barely noticeable.

To be honest, those weren't even big waves.

Calm down, boys .... agree to disagree, and be civil about it !!

I believe most states have a law that says you are responsible for your wake, and any damage or injury caused by it. It does not, however, say that "inconveniencing" someone fishing is covered in that law. If it were, every body of water would have a "idle speed/no wake" speed limit on it.

I also believe that 90% of all boaters, whether anglers or recreational boaters, would fail a boaters safety test ... if given without notice (or time to study for it). But, making everyone that owns a boat take a test to get a license to operate that boat ... wouldn't make things any better than it has for drivers of vehicles.

No attitude and no disrespect intended. I used to drive a truck (long time ago) also so I know others can be a pain, no its not easy stopping a truck load of steel when someone pulls out in front of you but I don't wake up wanting to "take someone out" either. I didn't care for the job so I found something else to do, to each his own. Every job has it's good and bad points, ya just deal with them. Sheesh!

I don't have a big or fancy boat, it's a 20 year old 17' tracker with a 40 hp motor. I do know the boats limits and if I fish on the main lake during the summer months I'm bound to have to contend with wakes from ski or fishing boats and jets ski's. I just don't think it's even reasonable to expect everyone on the open unrestricted parts of the lake to idle around the lake cause some is fishing somewhere.
I don't ski or want to go out on a pleasure boats but hey if someone else does it or he wants to swim and enjoy some family time tubing, go for it. Just how much fun would it to be tubing at idle speed. I will add that I do avoid certain waters in the summer months and when/if I do go to certain lakes its only very early in the morning and try to leave by noon.

Like beagle man said, when I go fishing I make it a point to not get "mad, upset or ticked off". To carry it even farther I try to not let much get to me anymore.
Life is too short, try to enjoy it.

Been running bass boats for years and can assure you you dont want me to slow down, most of the time I will trim out completely when passing folks as to not throw much, if any, wake. In the fall there will come a time when lots of boats gather in the areas where the fish are, if I want to fish that area I sit down out far enuff that they will never feel a wake from me, if I am going past that area it will be at full trim. Full trim and full throttle is not necessarily the same either, havent got to be wide open to go by trimmed out getting as much of the rig out of the water as possible.
Do as to others comes to mind, always gonna be folks that arent too brite, just the way it is.
Saw a guy the other day having trouble getting his boat to run rite, some were cussing him and some laughing at him. He came to the dock about the same time I did so I asked if I might could help, he thanked me and said sure. Turned out he had just got the rig and flat out didnt know how to drive it. He asked if I would drive it and see what was wrong so I did. Up on plane and down the lake we went, boat wouldnt take much trim but it ran good. Set it down and told him, now its your turn. He took the wheel and away we went, he was just not getting trimmed down enuff to take off and then trying trim it too much once it did get going. We pulled back into the dock and he thanked me, I loaded up and went home.
Sometimes people just dont think and a kind word or a little help can go a long ways, common sense aint all that common!
