i had three of the short fluroscent lights that i wasnt impressed at all with and all of em had quit working after a few uses. yeah, the jumping cholla lights much better and put out as much or more light as the short fluroscents. i no longer have a fluroscent to compare it to, but i give around 75 bucks for all three of the lights and none of em lasted more than a month or so aboard the beast. however aboard the beast on nightstalks our horses are rode hard and put up wet so if things is gonna last, they have to be tough. . I had a half dozen or more of the graphite ten foot rods than none made through the first season. all of the tips snapped off. they're stacked overhead in my shed now. we dont baby stuff to make it last. then i went to the 9 ft ugly stick crappie rods four years ago. i now have 16 and none of em has failed yet. the fluroscent lights dint last long at all. the aurora light from Jumpin cholla is holding up well under the punishment ., even tho we just now gettin fired up on nightstalking, i used the JCJ light on a striper hunt awhile back. i posted the results of that trip earlier. were going on a nightstalk tonight and the greenlight will be on my end of the beast. we will have 5 people aboard and will have 4 white qbeams and the green cholla light out. It is probably still a little early for nightstalking to be hot but i got several folks thats come down from the washington state board to fish with us so its a go, no matter what the fish are doing. the qbeams dont have the toughness of a floater (the glass globes are fragile, but they take up less room than the floaters).

Just curious why you don't sell them yourself or on your website?

A seeming disadvantage would be that the light is not emitted 360 degrees?

If you read Rango's post he said (it put out as much or more light). That's not enough to make me run out and spend over a hundred bucks on a light. We do use the short green fluroscent lights. And we have never had any problem with them (breaking...etc...) I think we will stick to what we know works.

I have had a 2' green light for about 6 years and have used it many, many times .
I would guesstamate probably 25 times a year or so and it has never failed.

im not trying to sell anything. im just stating how things ive had, and presently have, works.. i had three of the short florescents. one i bought at bass pro and two i bought at a local bait store when they first come out on the market. they did not last very long before they wouldnt work. if it dont work for me, as far as im concerned its junk even tho someone else may swear by it. the light JCJ sent me to try throws a healthy beam into the water . it shines in the direction you point it. i have it pointed down. i dont know how deep it will shine, but i do know it has a green halo about 4 ft or so around the unit. i dont expect to catch any fish in the foot of water from the surface to the submerged light so it dont bother me that it dont shine up when its pointed down i was suprised when jcj asked me to try it for them so the least i can do is tell how its working for us on our nightstalking .

id hate to say how many qbeams ive been through since ive been using them. not because they burn out but because they have this pyrex type globe around it thats subject to breakage if you drop it. like those of you that swear by the fluroscents theres those of us that sweat by the whites. its a never ending debate thats not gonna be settled. its all a matter of personal preference. actually i like the floaters to, but i dont wanna come up with the storage space that carrying six of those puppies would require.

Sorry if I sound like you were trying to sell those to us...Never meant for it to sound that way at all.I know you have been trying these for JCJ.And I thank you for an honest report.Good or bad. But all I was saying is, unless it's awhole lot better than what I am useing now,I will not fork out over 100 dollars for it.That's all I was saying.

It's a matter of apples and oranges to me. Like trying to compare a volkswagon to a cadillac. The more something costs (most times) the better it is made and easier it is to use it.
They will both get you there.
I like the $18.00 qbeams. Yes they will break, but for the savings, I take the time to wrap a rag around them and put them up so I don't step on em.
I try to not let em get beat against the boat also, because I know they will break easily.
All that said, I'm sure I will have to replace my qbeam before someone with a well made $100.00 light will have to replace thiers. I just simply can't afford that $100.00 pop.
    I can't afford a Cadillac either
