I guess I'm the odd man out. I had the 80# Terrova with iPilot and couldn't wait to use all the features. Pretty disappointed to be honest. But then again, I think it depends on how you fish. Spider riggers and trollers will probably love it.

I'd set a course along rip rap and the wind would blow us off and the iPilot was always either over correcting or under correcting. Spot lock was a joke as well. Plus I never got use to the noise the unit makes when turning. If you fish in a lot of wind, this is something you might want to consider.

Had the opportunity to fish with a Guide this weekend and he had a 80# Foretrex on the front of his Ranger. Normally i wouldn't give a cable TM another thought, but this bad boy was the smoothest TM I've ever used. Plus it just looks like it's built stout. It'll be my next TM!

The best part I don't have yet and can't wait to add and that is the iLink. I do a lot of long line trolling in spring and fall so this will be huge for me with the ability to follow a contour or tell it to hold 20' off a particular contour depth to cast to. I think it will store and keep up to 200 paths and each as ling as 2 miles each? I may be wrong here and it may be less, but I will never need it to remember that many paths to troll. I also fish some general spots spoon jigging for kicks (Yellow, Black and White Bass and the spot hold even if not exact should be very helpful to me.

I use spot hold all time when still fishing.
The only time I get my anchor is if it's blowing like stink, but then the anchor can even be a problem.

I put a Terova I-pilot on my boat this year, I don't regret spending the money but, I might get better with it as I get more experience, a standard foot control is a good bit more responsive, have better control with a standard foot control, the spot lock is more hype than substance.... Having said all that I can now spend more time fishing than fussing with the trolling motor, I'm 69 so the foot control I had did take more out of me than this motor, there are a lot of advantages with this motor over the other one but the main advantage is the motor is way less tiring than the standard foot control, don't have to keep your foot on the pedal all the time, can set the spot lock and retie or do whatever you need to do without worrying about the boat drifting halfway down the lake or into the bank. I would buy another one but it might not be the best thing since sliced bread... I dont longline troll so I don't know, it might be great for that tactic... If you can find anything to tie one end on the boat to with a long rope ( I use a 100' small dia rope) it is an absolute jewel in that situation, the motor will just about hold you anywhere in that radius as the motor stays in the position you put it in and let it run, beats the heck out of spot lock.
