I'm using the west pt reels like the pic now. Work good, but I'm using 11 and 12' poles, not a big stretch to net fish. After a while the threads rust, mechanism in the reel malfunctions, and the nuts come loose and fall off. Have to stay on top of the maintenance. I'm goin to buy some flippin reels, fished with a guy that had them, work better.
I'm another that likes baitcasters with a thumb bar. No other way for me.

I've used both types of reels, and spinners and baitcasters both work well. I use baitcasters with the thump bar now. I have some coming for under the price "G" quoted. They are Sigmas with six ball bearings. Will be next week before they get here tho. They are scratch and dent new models, but work perfect.
BTW, I grab my poles with my right hand so I use a left handed baitcaster reel. I guess it's a carry over from my spinning reel days.

I fished with a guide that used quantum optix 10's and has for 3 years. He told me grizzly jig sold them for 12 dollars a pop so I purchased 8. I have used them and they do a good job. It's not hard to flip open the bell and let out some line but it sure is cheaper. :2cents
Regular baitcasters is the way to go
