Check out the Oldham weedless crappie jigs as they don't seem to have that problem. I used them for the first time last month and had great sucess with them. I hooked almost all the bites that I got and caught the crappie using them. And they were really weedless too. When I did get hung up once or twice I was able to get the jig hook to bend without the 6lb test Ironsilk line breaking or the palmar knot giving out.

I had a few samples given to me by Larry-Southern IN. I really think that they work great. Crappie Pappy is right they are very good jigs.

    Hey Fishingpox:
Have you ever seen the double crested cormorants at that lake? They swim underwater and chase the fish around good. They may look like a pelican too.

My wife gave me the look as if saying...are you drinking again. The bird was approximately 100 yards away from me, swimming, and I thought..thats a big bird. So, I did a search, and low and behold, there is an American White Pelican. It was the bird I saw, he..she should not be in this area at this time, either the bird was injured or lost. The bird was swimming as though nothing was wrong. Was just one lone bird though, I thought that kind of odd. Well, I guess it is time to get out the spider rig and get at it. Using minnows next trip.

Yes, you can order online at www.fishformula.com

They are in the process of better distribution now. If you order some, you will not be disapointed!! They have both liquid and aresol forms and both work great!

Commorant, did not come to mind because I thought those are small birds. At first I thought it was a swan,it had the body that looked just like one. Then I noticed the beak. Search American White Pelican, they are common in this area Mississippi,Alabama, Tennessee were their migration pattern. I'm in Arkansas adjacent of Memphis. I think the ole girl was lost and found a good lake, to eat some of my fish lol.

    Default crappie nibbles

I have used them a few times this year and they seem to work ok. If you mistakingly step on them in your boat. They can be hell on your carpet.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

That is very true. Unless your carpet color is Chartruse then it won't show. LOL

My boat is so old that it really doesn't matter if there is a spot on the carpet for a while. They do rinse out and eventually will disolved and vanish from the carpet. But for a while they do make a mess.

I try to put mine in the jar's lid. I have an extra empth crappie nibble's jar and I take that lid off and turn it upside down and lay it on the floor at the bow of my boat next to the trolling motor. I put about 10 to 15 crappie nibbles inside that lid and let them sit there in the sun to dry out a bit and they are within reach when I need them. I end up bending down a lot to grab a new crappie nibble to bait my hook. But I can use the exercise. At times I wish I had a shelf about Knee high to put them on so that they and my fish finder would be within easy reach. Maybe someday they will make a real sturdy Rod Holder that I can mount on my boat that will not only hold the rod holders but will also let me mount my depth finder on the crossbar. I could easily glue a lid to the crossbar and put the crappie nibbles inside that lid.

The only problem I have with my system is if I drop a few nibbles and don't see them and step on them before I can pick them up. And a few times this summer I came back to the dock after dark and forgot the nibbles were still sitting up there on the bow of my boat. I took off and drove home and the next day I found about twenty crappie nibbles had been blown back into the boat. But they were dried out and not a problem. I just picked them up. If they are wet then they can easily mash down in the carpet and make a mess.

So if you have a brand new boat and you want to keep it clean then maybe crappie nibbles are not for you. But hey aren't boats made to fish and get dirty?

Besides you can always call Fatboy and have him come pressure wash your boat's carpet.

Yeah, I've got the "look" from my wife for the nibble mess. But that's normally forgotten after a nice mess of crappie fillets.

Maybe I'll work on a crappie dispenser similar to a "PEZ" dispenser. Just flip the lid and bingo!...nibbles.

I have to agree with IBNFSHN on this one. I think it depends alot on location and I also think it depends alot on the fish. To be quite honest with you, I have tried crappie nibbles and didnt have anymore success with them than I normally have. I have found that in the areas I fish, if I can find the fish, 99% of the time, I will catch them on just a jig all by its lonesome. As far as foul scents or odors go, I dont deliberately have any scents on me. I did however spill gas all over my hands before my last fishing trip and didnt wash my hands. I caught 40 crappie. I think if they are hungry and feeding, they will bite with a bad smell as long as it looks good lol. I eat alot of food I like that stinks, I dont know too many people who think cabbage smells good when its cooking, but if I'm hungry, you better watch out.

The big problem with spray on bait attractants is, they cause the glue in your carpet to break down. If you use them, try not to get it on your carpet.
Have a crappie day!:D [email protected]
