    Exclamation 3 LBS crappie....

the attached picture is of a 3.99 LB crappie, it is at Weiss Lake Lodge, I thought I would share it for those of us that have never seen a 3.99 LBS black crappie before LOL.

Anyway I have a question that probably has been addressed 100 times, but if your where after a 3 LBS + trophy crappie which lake would you target for that quality of a fish?

    Thanks....

Is this true? I would not have bet on bass getting much over 3 pounds in Ill.

There has been many 3 pound plus caught out of Weiss and it is as good as any outside of Mississippi!

Of couse , not sure why you would doubt this, I live in central Ohio and have caught 6 lb. bass from public lakes here, and I know there are bass caught much bigger then that by the bass fisherman.

Sorry, but look at weigh in results for Ill. Crappie tournies are won with a 1 pound average and bass with a 3 pound average. I was just asking, never had heard of 3 pounders in Ill. or Ohio for that matter. The shorter growing season and extreme winters. I come from an area where we catch 6+pounders on most bass fishing ventures and most adult bass fishermen don't really bat an eye unless a fish is over 10. I just was asking, sorry I offended anyone.

Saw one weighed at an tournament at East Fork in Ohio at 2.98; saw a picture of a shocked crappie out of Salt Fork that weighed over 4. State record in Ohio for both white and black is over 3 (I think they're over 4). They're rare, but they're in the midwest, including ILL.

There was no offense taken I was just curious as to why people did not think bass were larger then that in ILL. I thought your post mentioned bass not getting much over 3 lb.. I agree on the smaller crappie that is no surprise , because of the growing season.
