Has anyone ever stayed at The Lilly Pad Guest House before in Hornbeak on the lower end of the lake? If so would you recommend it?

Last year I watched a group of fishermen in the woods on the upper part of the lake with there 12 ft jig poles catch slabs all day long. So I purchsed a 10 ft BnM ? Never used one before, do any of you have any helpful tips?
Spend a day with one of the local guides and you will be catching fish your whole trip.
Match it with a reel that balances the rod !! It will be much easier to handle, won't strain your wrist/forearm, and make using it a more pleasant experience. Get a reel with a wide, or long, line spool, so that line coil is minimized.
I like for my rod/reel to balance on my finger, when my finger is under the front most part of the handle. What you don't want is a tip heavy outfit, especially if you're going to be holding that rod in hand & jigging with it.
Depending on "which" 10ft BnM rod you have ... consider using a net, rather than hoisting the fish in the boat with the rod. And, don't go poking the rod tip down in the brush/stumps to free a hung jig !! Better to lose a jig, than damage the rod tip. And, if you're constantly hung up, consider using a weedless jighead.
