Uh-huh...what you said Glasseyes. You can see my "good luck" hat on me head in my sig pic. It's a trademark. Wife tossed out the first one that I spent years building character into. She now knows it "hands off". Jerkinmeat's wife asked me this past fall if I always wear that hat and I told her I only take it off for special occassions...like church.

No bananas in my boat either. If you must eat a banana do it at the boat ramp or no fishing for you on my boat. I always carry pork rinds and oatmeal cream pies. Before I take a bite I always offer a bite to the fish gods by crumbling a pork rind and sprinkling it on the water. A few of my family members are commercial fishermen and that is where I picked this up. They are very superstitious guess I am to.

THe only superstitions I have are black cats crossing, and catching a fish on the first cast. My dad caused both of these darned superstitions, and they've almost always proven to be true. I rarely have a good day if I catch a fish on the first cast. I can't even remember an exception....

62 years ago, my grandpa would send my oldest cousin outside to see what the cows were doing. If the cousin came back inside and said they were
eating grass, grandpa would take us grandsons fishing. If they were laying down, we would go to the corn crib and rub corn cobs together to
remove the corn from the cob and sack the corn in tow sacks. We would spend time with grandpa during the peanut shakin' time and the corn strippin'
time. Didn't know his theory was spread around the country. He taught us the difference in the ways fish bit and to recognize what was on the line
before we got the fish to the top of the water. Some of it stuck and some of it didn't. Forgot more than I can remember for some reason. Don't matter
too much now except for the reason I fish, to eat. When I forget that, I'll quit. Who wants to fish and not know why they're fishin'?

I agree fish on the first cast is bad luck, I also think its bad luck to fill the livewell before you need it. my biggest belief is in carma. for instance, I can't stand to go fishin if the household chores aren't done. I feel like I don't deserve a fishin trip. (I go anyways) and if ya really want a good fishin trip, take a kid of someone who otherwise wouldn't get to go. seems like those are always the best days...
