I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

You'll probably be OK, they may have even washed them before selling them to the Retail Stores so they wouldn't be so oily. The paint would have "fish-eyed" if they had much oil on 'em. Don't sweat it, you'll probably have to paint them every couple years anyway.

I've fished with guys who have cup holders or small baskets mounted on the uprights, both are pretty handy, lol and something else to buy.

Mumpy that looks good. I made mine several yrs back and they have worked great. I used aluminum 1 in. angle iron on the cross section of the T-Bar and drilled a 1/4 in. hole through angle and upright and used a 1/4 in. Stainless Bolt and Nut. I used 5 degree Driftmasters on my angle with 3/8 in. holes and used 1 thumb nut on top and 1 locknut on bottom. I have two T-bars with 2 holders each front and back which gives me a total of 8. I used 3/8 Stainless Lag bolts to attach to boat. Ive painted mine twice since they were mounted. I assure you saved some money and satisfaction of making them your self is priceless. Good job and Im sure you will enjoy. BB
