Skip check with your power co. I have Duke energy & they have something called strike stop I believe, I had one installed on my house which has 2 panels. I think it was around $200.00 installed. They also offer a policy $30.00 a year if a strike should occur they will pay the ins. deductible up to $1,000.00. I know how it is to go thru a lightening strike, 6 months down the road you will find things that was probaly effected by the strike. GOOD LUCK

The old kind of top load machines use maybe 50 gallons a load?? I think they now have top load machines that also are better on water.
I live in the county with multiple acres - water well, propane tank, septic system, etc. I let the gray water (washing machine, showers, etc.) run on the ground. To me it's the same as washing your truck, etc. I learned that from my grandfather in West Texas. Just my 2 cents.

I have had several lighting strikes out here and my insurance company has done me well replacing equipment - even had a strike once that blew out the windows on one side of the house. Several large trees here. A previous post was right, a large (5/8" diameter) copper rod 10' deep driven into the ground helps alot - for me at least.

We will see you at Toledo Bend. Good luck Skip!
