Shore Fishing for Crappie

Go to the dam and fish around the drain spout . Water there hold be the deepest and the coolest. gillchaser

Slow is best and try crappie nibblers to help with the crappie bite. I like the berkley silver flakes. Lake Fork has some blue shad that pond crappie seem to love around were I live here in MO. Hope this helps post a report.

Personally, I'd be using a 8-9ft rod ... 4lb test line on a wide spool or long cast reel ... 1/16oz marabou Roadrunner ... and maybe even a splitshot up the line about 18" (for greater distance). I'd be casting out as far as I could, then reeling back with a steady, moderate speed retrieve (with rod held at 10 o:clock position if using splitshot).

If the pond is that big, but that shallow, are there any weeds or any kind of cover ? 8ft isn't deep enough to shade the fish, by depth alone, unless the water is very fertile (green/dingy) ... so I'd be concentrating my efforts in the early morning & late afternoon hours, on the shaded banks (shade created either from surrounding obstacles, or the East bank at sunrise & west bank towards sunset).
