Nice looking fish, amazes me how wide the color variations are among fish of the same species. Camouflage I guess, and that one sure stands out.
And a real beauty of a canoe, fine craftsmanship there.

That is an awesome boat/canoe! He does fine work!

Great looking crappie as well and agree that fish probably was in weeds a lot. I use to fish in a preserve near my home when I was a lot younger and this place was impounded by levies out in the marsh/bayou country and it was pretty shallow all over it and totally full of grass to the point only trails in it where boats ran. Couldn't have a large motor at all and only small boats. ANyway the bass and blue gills, everything really was so dark the Black Bass were pretty much Black and hardly green much at all.

I made that canoe working every night for several weeks. I cut each individual strip of wood, which consisted of pine, spruce, hemlock & cedar. I made the design unique, I'm certain there isn't another one like it. It was worth the effort. Every night I would glue a couple of strips on each side, then staple them. The next night I would remove the staples and repeat the process. The only thing I purchased in the construction was the seats from L.L. Bean. The gunnels are made of ash, the closure on the bow is mahogany, the thwart is also ash. There was thousands of staples that I put in and removed. I wanted to get some sort of I.D. on it, so I burned my ss # under the bow closure. The most work was the sanding, sanding, sanding. I've had some pretty tempting offers, but it's a sentimental thing with me, I'll keep it. I guide and my clients are impressed when we fly fish out of it.

Looks like a good fish man. You've been on a roll. Guess I will have to book a trip up that way.
