Skeeters are attracted by light color clothes too. Breathing brings in skeeters and so does sweat and noise. Sweat contains lactic acid which the skeeters can sense. Read this in the farmers almanac long time ago.

So, don't breathe, take a bath , be quiet and wear camouflage. Apply chemicals when needed.

I use Off Smooth and Dry formula. It is amazing and doesn't have that awful bug spray smell. I'll fish all night and not have a single bit.

All I do is night stalk in the summer, no bug problems at all, I use one green light off the side down around 2 feet, once your eyes adjust there's no need for extra lights, I use a double miners light with a red filter on the led for dealing with fish, if i need to tie a hook on i switch it to the white light, but turn that sucker off right away after im done, smoking a cig every once in awhile helps too, lol
    Good fishing

My Grandfather never drank and never smoked EXCEPT for smoking cigars when fishing in the summer to keep the bugs off. He died young of a heart attack after shooting a big buck on opening day of gun season, wish I would have known him longer.

I overheard one skeeter say to the other once "do you want to eat him here or take him away before the big ones show up?" Besides i'm just to durned purty to walk around smellin like a smokehouse

I have lived all over the US, and traveled throughout the world. Your skeeters are small by comparision.
The worst was in Alaska, talk about unrelentless, some days the noise itself was enough to drive you nuts. When you live outside for months on end, you learn how to deal with insects, actually mother nature in general. Your either in tune to her drum or your bait.

Once I found the Thermacell kits, I never looked back at those sprays, etc. They are fantastic for fishing and camping.
