You and your fellow service members were part of our "greatest generation"; from the Arctic convoys to Russia, to the burning hot sands of North Africa; on the bloody beaches of Omaha, Sicily, Anzio, Bouganville, Iwo Jima, Tarawa and countless other God forsaken places. They rescued the survivors of the U Boat attacks and then relentlessly harrassed them to their destruction; your generation manned the B-17s, B-24s, B-25s, B-26s and B-29s that even suffering crippling losses carried the war to the heartlands of Facist Italy, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. They also piloted the fighters that when not chopping up the enemy`s fighter defenses upon being released from close escort went down after them on their own airfields, the 8 .50 cals shreadding anything of value. they manned the subs that economically throttled Japan to death, as well as serving in so many other support roles. Thank God for the men of your calibur, and am grateful too we can still call upon such men now...
