Young Slabber's Forum. Anything we can do to promote fishing will pay off in the future.
Take you kids fishing today!!! They will be grown (and married and have children of their on) tomorrow. Then you can take your GRANDKIDS!

I think it will be great. I am new to fishing, so it will be a great way for me to learn to fish and how to become a better mentor.

I think this is a great idea. I don't see it as it having to be a "kids" forum or anything like that. It could be for all ages of people interested in getting started.
I think it is important to be a mentor to even the 30 and 50 year old kids as well. No matter the age it would be neat to have a forum to post those stories and experiences as well as questions anyone new to the sport may have.

And isn't that why you work so hard to keep the site 'family friendly'?

Just trying to think of it from a kid's point of view. I know my nephews would probably avoid anything marked 'for kids' because at 11 and 13 they're already adults in their own minds.

Vonna's idea is a good one. It doesn't have to be JUST for the youth. I came here as a pure T Wannabe. It wasn't as large as it is now, but I sure got a wonderful reception and some super guidance and support. Through that, I turned my own children into lovers of fishing.
Side point.. Don't know about the majority. But, with my kiddo's; they looked at crappie.com WITH me. I know we have the "newcomers" forum, but that just seems to be more of an "I'm a new poster..introduce yourself" forum.

I've always respected and admired the fact that Ed kept the forum FAMILY friendly. The little bit of deviance and fun poking is NOTHING to what these kids share in school amongst themselves....believe me.

The main forum is a great wealth of information for both the beginner and the advanced. I do miss our little chat room where we had a nice group to ask opinions and share real time answers. The people there made me feel totally at home and at ease about my lack of knowledge.

I know this doesn't answer the question of how useful a new forum would be. That is something that only testing it out could do, I guess. All I wanted to do was to share what has really helped this girl and her children to enjoy fishing, and crappie.com has been a HUGE part of that.

As I write this post, my two kids are across the street at the pond....you guessed it.... FISHING
