I've been using some "minners" for about 2 weeks now. First batch was around April 15th, didn't catch a thing. Bluegills/sunfish chased them down, but never took a bite at them. Finally they died and i threw them in the water for the catfish or whatever to have.

Though today, a few guys were using some minners near some large weed beds and something kept tearing them off. Finally they left and gave me the rest of the minners. Since i noticed, ALL fish right now, prefer a very slow retrieve. I stuck red hook and bobber on my spare pole and tried to catch something in my spot. Didn't get anything. Then i chose to fish near the weed beds, same as the other guys. Something was taking the minnows off. Finally put a little 1/64oz jighead on and hooked the minners through the tail. Caught about 8 medium size bass hiding out in there. Finally the sun popped out behind the clouds and the bite dropped like a rock.

Saw a lot of bluegill and crappie swimming around, some were pecking at the bucktail jig i had on my main pole. But there wasn't much luck today with anything, cept for the minners.

Overall though, this spring (since mid March) I have had more luck on the jigs than i have on minnows, which is a huge switch from the summer and fall time.

No1son , that was awesome dude ! Very informative , interesting , and almost poetic ! Almost like it came out of a college text book . Thanks for sharing that ! Nice piece of work .. I never knew anything about a nymph or even thought about crappie eating on these micro organisms . I will definitely try these tactics and definitely be paying a lil closer attention to how and why and what the fish are feeding on , and how they're biting .
    Thanks
