Y'all are right. Rough water in a flat bottom is like 20 miles of Georgia dirt road.

I used to drive boats for a living--V/Semi-V bottom is the way to go. Cuts through the chop better.

I've fished out of a LOT of boats in my days. Have been on many jon boats, the flat bottomed type Fisher bass boats, semi-V's and deep-V's, fiberglass bass boats - you name it. If you are only fishing small ponds or medium sized rivers, the jon will serve you well. If you even occasionally venture onto larger bodies of water, I would not recommend anything less than a deep-V. The semi-V is sort of a compromise, but has a lot of the problems of a jon as well - namely a wet ride. My last boat, a 16' Crestliner, was the widest, best riding deep-V boat I've ever been in. Everyone will have their opinions. But what I've said here will do you just fine.
