We've had a warm winter, the spawn will probably be all over the calendar this year.
TODAY I CAUGHT ALL FEMALES THAT IF YOU SQUEEZE THEM , THEY MILKED AND CLEANED THREE FOR SUPPPER AND THE EGGS WERE AS LOOSE AS A GOOSE. I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM SPAWN THIS EARLY??

What is the water temp there? Surface temps about 50 here. It needs to be in the 60's.

I'm wondering, were they black crappie? I've heard they spawn a few weeks ahead of white crappie. Warmer temps and plenty of food. I agree w/Blackhawk19, the spawn could be scattered big time this year unless we get some cold snaps mixed in. Normally this is a given on Kentucky Lake but this year, who knows.
first time i've ever heard of anyone milking a fish. cows? yes. goats? yes. fish? never.
I caught a couple of females this past weekend. One was small and didn't have a whole lot of eggs in it but the other was over 13" and she was full of eggs. They didn't appear that they were ready to drop by no means but she was full. I caught her out of about 40' of water so I guess she didn't think she was ready to drop her eggs either. The water temp was 48 when I put my boat in the water that morning. I usually catch about 95% blacks in this area of the lake and I start seeing them up on the spawning grounds when the water hits about 57 so we still got a ways to go. I would think our fish down here would have to spawn a little ahead of your fish up in Missouri?
Hey ole buddy I kinda thought I'd get a rise out of you. It just goes to show you're not much of a farmer. What's UP
