I make a RR type that is 1/8 oz and use a 1/0 sickle hook. We all use 1 or 1/0 up here for these monsters we raise!
I'm starting to think that I should be using a bigger hook. I mostly jig fish and use 1/32 or 1/16 heads and the hooks have historicially been fairly small. I'm thinking I may be missing some fish due to the small hook size because they can spit it out easier.
I've seen some stuff online with the light heads that I like but larger hooks (up to 1/0 for the 1/16 where I usually only have 4 or 6 size).
Thoughts?

I use #8 hook on most of all my jigs and dont really seem to have a problem. I even go smaller at times aswell. I just bend the hook out alittle.
A #6 is the biggest I've ever used for crappie. I've never had a problem hooking or holding fish.

If I am tippin jigs with minners I prefer a #2, and prefer a #2 anytime but feel ok with a #4 if not tipping.
2/0 for me
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.
#2 mostly, occasionally #4.
2/0 ??? You must catch some pretty big crappie
#4 on jigs #2 on minnow hooks.
