Sad , but better not try fishing here either. Last fall I had a bouy out fishing several times and had old folks try to troll crankbaits right over my bouy we were fishing around. I said something and after the third pass my fishing partner yelled at them. He had been telling me watch out they are going to hit us. After the first pass I just steered in their path next to my bouy. They got offended believe it or not. We had been there way over an hour before they launched. This was in open water with plenty of room , but we were catching fish.

I have had this problem a few times on Hartwell and have found out that if I pull up to my buoy and throw my 35 lb. anchor over two or three times they get mad and leave. Of course I have to leave also because this really spooks the crappie, but it makes me feel better than getting mad and upset. I have even had them to ask what I am doing this for. Good luck and nice catch.

A similiar thing happened to me when I was fishing with my dad during the spawn a year or two ago. We were coming up a bank and another boat was coming down the bank. We trolled out to deeper water and back into the bank after we had passed them a good ways. We let them fish the down the bank. After we eased in close to the bank again we started catching fish where a creek channel swings in close to the bank. They had just fished thru there without catching anything. When they saw we were wearing them out, they come back and tried to root us out. I spent the better part of an hour blocking them out back and forth with the trolling motor while my dad was catching them pretty good. The spot where they were holding was about the size of a pick up truck.

A couple years ago my wife and I were at Ky Lake we were fishing a stake bed. A boat came up and seen we were catching fish and got so close our poles almost hit.I just looked at my wife and said real nice honey can you come up here and run this trolling motor while I climb over in that boat the next trip and teach them some manners.I am 6'4" and 280 when I got up and she climbed in my seat they went the other way and didn"t come back.
The only thing better than a day of fishing. Is a week of fishing.

My lake is full of tourists in rental boats, when they see ya catchin fish and motor too close, I just stop fishing, sit and watch them, they can't catch the fish unless they see someone else's tactic, and bouncing grapefruit size bobbers off trees doesn't work.

We had some foreigners buy a boat and start fishing on the lake that i fish most, I was setting on a long tree that the top is about 60 foot from the bank and they trolled between me and the bank but I let it go that time. Well a couple weeks later Im fishing in the same lake but different area, well here comes the idiots again this time as they start getting closer I turn the boat sideways to block them as they get closer they are jabbering something which I didnt understand but when I turned the boat straight toward them and started jabbering real loud toward them they moved and havent had any more trouble since...I have thrown my buoy about 100 ft from what im fishing before and and when I hear a boat coming I will turn the boat and cast toward the buoy then come back in an hour and see a boat setting right where the buoy had been..Luckily around here most people just fish for crappie during what they think is the spawn, which the best is past, and stay off the water during the winter....

Ok rude is rude but this one I get soooooo tired of reading on CDC! Just because I have a 200 and a bass boat I’m automatically a jerk. Or just because I pass you I’m a jerk. Hey if you’re close to a channel or cut through that’s your choice but if I slowed down for every boat on my lake I’d never be on plane. I respect others space as much as I can but my boat like all boats makes a much smaller wake at FULL speed. Rude is rude no matter what you fish out of! banghead

Glad you had a great day despite rude people. Thumbs Up
