I like to fish when I can. Crappie Is number one. I also look for bass, trout, bluegill. Then there is ocean fishing, and SALMON :D That is number two. I have followed them from ocean to the rivers. It is fun. But it also cost. Steelhead is a close third. There is also rock cod, surf perch, halibut, Yes I like to fish. :D

Crappie is numero uno! When the summer heat gets on I fish Large Mouth Bass at night on Kentucky Lake. I love to use plastic baits for both. I have a granddaughter coming on that may re-introduce my to some Bluegill fishing.

I fish primarily for crappie. I also fish for bass, brim, and catfish. When I go to Michigan I fish for perch, smallmouth, pike. salmon, steelhead and lakers.
To make life enjoyable, you must have crappie days.

I have always been a multispecies fishermen. Well except for Drum as I hate them things. I fished a tournament once and the first fish I caught was about a 4lb drum on my crappie jig. I though I had a big crappie at first and was really disappointed when I saw that stupid drum come to the surface. But it was fun to reel him in.

I have fished for Trout in mountain streams, Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Muskie, Perch, Small Mouth, Kentucky Bass, Sunfish or bluegills and catfish of all kinds. I even fished below the Newburgh IN dam a few times. Been ocean fishing for grouper, sharks, Bonita, Bluefish in my uncle's 30 ft boat off the Coast of New Jersey a few times too. Even spearfish while scuba diving in my youth. Now that's fun especially at night with an underwater light. I have some pictures of me diving in the Florida Keys where I used an Instamatic camera with a rented underwater camera case. Now I need to dig those pictures out of my files. I grew up fishing KY lake for bass every summer and fall and for crappie, bass, sauger, and Stripers each summer and fall. Even went down there in Dec to recreate.

I fished off a pier in Clearwater beach Florida and caught sheepshead and Grunts. Grunts are similar to our bluegill in shape and forum but they are more aggressive. We would catch one grunt and cut it up and use the pieces for bait. Most of the time I purchased squid and cut it up for bait. I fished for blue crabs a lot in the Summer of 1958 when we lived in Clear Water Beach Florida for three months. Tie a piece of squid to the end of the fishing line (No hooks needed for this type of crab fishing) and then lower the bait down to the barnacle shell low tide line and swim the bait along the edge of the sea wall until a big blue crab swims out from under the barnacles and grabs the squid. Gently raise the bait to the surface with the crab holding on to the squid and trying to feed. Then take a long dip net and slip it under the crab and you have supper. Repeat a dozen times and you have some blue crabs for supper. Cook in boiling water for 10 minutes and then dump the crabs out and crack open the claws and you have some nice white crab meat. Dip in melted butter and you are in seventh heaven. Some buddies of mine went diving in Honduras and came back with a bunch of lobsters. We have a party one night after they got back. Now that was super cool.

My dad surf fished off the beach and caught some sea trout and got his pictures in the papers years ago at Clear Water Beach, FL.

Some of my favorite times fishing was with a fly rod for spawning bluegills. Now that's always a lot of fun.

Over the past few years I just started trying to learn more about crappie fishing exclusively. Crappie.com members have shared a lot of good information with the membership and I have learned a lot from the guys in here. Also learned a lot by going out and actually putting the knowledge to use in the field. I never caught a limit of crappie until I started reading this forum. Now I can at times catch 25 fish in a few hours. Crappie Wisdom (a book by In-Fishermen) is another good source of fishing information about crappie.

I catch an aweful large amount of walleye, bass, perch, all bream, but I've also caught tons of bass, pike and even muskie while fishing for slabs.

Do you only consider yourself a crappie fisherman or a multi-species fisherman?

I consider myself only a crappie fisherman.

I fish for the "strike". I love any kind of fishing, its just that crappie/perch fishermen seem to be a little more laid back so I migrate toward a friendlier crowd now that my kids are fishing.

Close your eyes and picture a bobber dissapearing under the water and the sing of the line, feel the strike and the pole bend of a small crankbait or roadrunner, see a blue gill bust a small topwater. YEAH thats what I fish for!!!

Better than drawing out on the river...and not near as expensive.

    Fishing for crappie only?
For us that would be like eating carrots only.....yek.
While we thoroughly enjoy carrots AND crappie, they are PART of the "meal" to be enjoyed.
If it (the fish) will sight feed. we'll be found, at some time or other, flinging feathers at it....fresh or salt water.
