WITH The jig stays up better
For those of you who fish with plastic baits do you prefer a head with a barb or without and why?
WITH The jig stays up better
Tube bait with, solid without. Don't tear the bait up.

Only like a barb when using hollow tubes the rest of the time I like no barbs, sometimes use dab of super glue to help hold it.

With .... hollow or solid body baits. Barb holds the bait on the jig without having to use glue. (been there, done that glue thing with hollow tubes) And, seeing as how I use weedless/barbed jigheads, I seldom lose a bait. I've pretty much switched to solid body baits, simply because I don't have to constantly be pulling the tube back up on the jighead or glue it on. Glue works, but you still sacrifice the plastics if you change them often, unless you take jighead & all off & retie. If you carefully pinch the solid body plastics (from the sides), you can guide the barb back out without doing a whole lot of damage. For me, by the time I've used a solid body long enough to do enough damage, to where it won't stay put ... I'll gladly sacrifice it, because by then it's either caught me some fish or proved not to be the color I should've been using Rofl

No barb. I like the tighter fit. Use a drop of super glue too.

Very interesting thread. I have always wondered if the scent of "super glues" affect the bait in a negative way.

It never seemed to make any difference for me, Don. I've glued them ... waited 30sec's ... cast to a laydown & caught Crappie right on. I started glueing them, because the Bluegill kept yanking the skirt down on the jighead :p ... but, then they just kept nipping the tails of the tube off, until all I had was a body core Rofl ... so then I had to pinch/peel off the remaining plastics & glue on another tube. It took away from my casting time, RIGHT WHEN I was catching fish ... & that's why I switched over to solid body tubes.
