Was gonna say -40 degrees...keep in mind while their metabilism slows down, their need for food is still there. They do tend to bite much lighter though; even still, they will "spit it " just as fast as in warmer water

When the temps are below, say, 48*, i go to smaller baits for them. If you use live bait, use the smallest minnows you can find. I use jigs in the 1/32 to 1/80 oz size and do well all winter. As the water warms, i move up in bait size.
