Sometimes when I'm using a split shot I have hooked them up through the bottom lip, from the outside in. Makes me wonder if they hit my split shot then when I set the hook I hooked em with my jig??

heres one I caught with out hooking.....not the best pic but if you look the hook is wedged in the fish's mouth...the jig head was buried in his lower mouth and the bend of the hook in the roof, the hook never stuck him.....

Wow, center punched the top lip!
The only time I use snaps are when tandem rigged, and then I only use crosslock snap. Never even knew that type existed till this post, going to find some though because they look a lot easier to use when your hands are cold in the winter!

I love snap clips! Been using them for years. Use them to snap on & off all my jigs. And yes, I've caught a couple this way too. Netcraft carries the least expensive and most effective snap clips I've ever tried. I use the medium size clips from that company.

jeepguyjames, THAT's cool! One hungry fish! Tank1, I like the way you think LOL. Meatgetter, I have used them one my trolling rigs too. They sure are handy! This was on my short pole I use for verticle fishin. I use 10# braid and when I set the hook I try to cross their eyes! Been using the snaps for years now. On a tube jig that tears, you can pop the jig off and replace the tube. It always allows the jig to hang right and man they are strong! I HAVE lost fish too however. Not many, I would say mabe 5-6 where I set the hook and the jig has popped off of the snap only thing I can firgure is it is twisted in the fishes mouth when I set the hook. Only other problem is when your fishin' around slime, it'll get on the snap. Oh and Thnks fo rall the comments.

Definately a good reason to use Fas-Snaps. I've been thinking of some good reasons to use them. What sizes do you guys like to use?

I think it's the large ones. I know they have small med. large and extra large. It's either med or large. I dont keep the package. I put em in a metal sucrets can with a magnet. That way I can keep up with em.
