Cajun anchor is what I use in soft bottoms.

Regardless of what kind of anchor you finally decide on be sure and get yourself about a 5 or 6' length of heavy chain to attach your anchor to the rode/rope.

I have an Oldtown 158 and I use an 8# mushroom in the rear and a gallon jug filled with cement in front. Never had a drift problem even in the strongest wind on the lakes I fish. The only change I might make is to add some short lengths of rebar through the jug before filling it but only for still water anchoring.

I have fished the Illinois River (read muck/silt bottom) and one Navy Anchor holds me all day long. Nor have I ever had any trouble in winds on the lake either. Plus they store easily.
