Default Power pole or talon on crappie boat

Looking at ordering a 18 PFC and wanted to know what you thought about a power pole or talon. I cannot do a talon because won't fit through garage door but power pole u can lower just enough to get through door opening then raise back up once through door. I was fishing in 08 in spring and crappie were shallow but with my wife with me it was a major chore keeping boat held with trolling motor and had to keep circling back around and blew up on fish. Thought it would be a well worth it add to hold boat so you could just fish. I had a war eagle predator in 08 and now looks like this boat is about the same. My wife cannot move around a lot due to her heart so she needs to not use a lot of energy or she can't do it. 07 and 08 was first time I ever looked and fished for crappie. Caught plenty bass fishing though the years but I am a real greenhorn in crappie so didn't knownif power pole is a waste or great tool

Well as I had thought about putting the Power pole on my boat I cant justify the cost. I did find a cheaper alternative though, if your interested here is the link. Shallow Water Anchor | What Is A Pole Style Shallow Water Anchor?

I will be getting a couple of these myself.

    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Get a Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor with I-Pilot....just hit the Spot Lock button on your remote.....boat will not drift over 5 ft. then motor willl automatically turn on and turn what ever direction needed to bring you back to the exact gps spot. The gps reads a 5 foot radious circle with your TM shaft in the center....when the boat drifts and the TM shaft hits the outer diameter of the circle.....the motor automatically brings you back. It works pretty good even in the wind....so good that I do not even carry a anchor in my boat anymore.

The Spot Lock on the I-Pilot works like dream in open, or deeper water. Problem in shallow water is that the TM has to be down wind, or down current of the cover you're fishing. On a wind swept bank, the TM would have to put the boat on dry ground to be down wind and maintain it's position, plus it can back wash your fishing spot trying to get in position in shallow water. In heavy brush, like buck brush, it would have to run over a lot of the brush to get down wind. I love mine, but there are shallow water situations where the I-Pilot Spot Lock just doesn't work well, and the Talon or Power Pole would be a much better choice. Could just get a big anchor and a rope though. ;-)

I fish bream beds a lot when I am not trolling for crappie, and my Spot Lock works great.....none of the problems that you mention BRM....of course I am way up in protective coves so wind really doesn't bother me. I do have a MinnKota DeckHand 40 electric anchor winch but I have not installed it yet because the SpotLock works so well.

Trolling motor practice makes perfect. I can't, never done anything. Where there is a will, there is a way. More bang for the buck Etc. Ect. YouTube search power pole. If you have that kind of coin buy it and find out for yourself, if you don't like it post it here in the classifieds and sell it. Bottom line is, they work, just like an anchor.

Guys I've talked to who had a couple of Power Poles installed loved them. Cost is about $1,800 apiece installed is what they told me. They also said they have come out with 10 footers. Two works much better than one but it's still very expensive. I've asked if there were any drawbacks and they said no.
Talked to another guy about MinnKota Power Pole and one guy liked his but another one said they do not hold up nearly as well.
There's time when fishing a stakebed in shallow water, they would come in mighty handy.
