Thanks for the advice guys, it is definatly not the choke. It is not sticking and when I did choke the moter it choked out. The tank lines and bulb seem fine, the bulb stays up tight. I'm going to look at the jets and adjusters like ya'll said and might try the sea foam , had anouther guy recommend that. Just seems kinda odd to me that it ran great one day and like crap the next. Seems like it would go down gradually but what do I know, Still runs like crap so not much apparently. Again thaks for the ideas, you guys are great.

On mine, the (air) jets are on the side of the carbs. I was looking and seen what looked like a screw missing on the top/side portion of the carb. The one under it had a brass like bushing in the screw hole so I knew then what was missing. Good luck straightening it out.
I agree. Prob something (trash) in hi speed jet. Pull carb, clean jet or replace it.

Run a compression check. I had a motor that ran fine one day and the next day it would not get up on step. I cleaned the carb 3 times and changed the plugs with no luck. I brought it to the mechanic and told him what it did and that it would run wide open on the trailer with the muffs on. He run a compression check and that was my problem. For some reason it lost compression that fast, figured I cracked a piston some how.

You definitly need to do a compression check.More than likely you have a high speed jet stopped up.If you are any bit mechanicly inclined you can take them apart and blow them out yourself. But you DEFINITELY dont want to be spraying carb cleaner down the throats of your carbs with the engine running. That has a tendancy to cut down the lubrication factor of the oil and you know what that will lead to.....

I had a similar problem with my Merc. 9.8hp. What would happen when I was traveling down the lake it would bog down and just not go as fas as it normally would at full throttle. Then one day I was traveling down the lake and it just quit like it ran out of gas and would not start back up! After checking gas, spark, gas lines etc. It turned out to be a gasket in the curburator was old and falling apart and gas was spilling onto the kill-switch wire and shorting it out (I was lucky it did not catch fire!). I just removed the kill switch wire and the motor has run fine since(oh and I replaced the gasket!) I just turn it off by usig the choke.

Bottom line is make sure everything inside is clean and nothing is shorting out!
    Good luck with it!
