Nice catch!
That was my same experience two months ago when I got a trolling motor. It's also more fun to have four lines in the water, trying different lures, depths, etc. to fine-tune the day's approach. I still enjoy casting from shore too, but mostly for the relaxation and practicing casting technique.

What area of the state are you fishing in? I vertical jiged one in about 24 foot of water the other day.
